MEET THE ARTIST

We sat down with Amber to dive deeper into her creative past, what inspires her, and how she sees herself growing as an artist in the future! Here is what she said:

The art you create is amazing and we can't help but wonder, what inspired you in the first place to start expressing yourself through the art medium? Is it something that you were always drawn to?
“Yes! Artmaking is how I know to communicate and process best; creating brings me the most joy in life!”

A lot of your art seems to draw inspiration from womanhood and the complexity of femininity -- is there an event or a woman in your life that really pushed your focus toward this idea?
“My mom is one of my biggest inspirations, and a lot of my work is inspired by her.”

When starting a new project, or looking for inspiration, where is your favorite place to create?
“My home studio, or sketching in a national park!”

Can you tell us a little about why you chose the 5 Manucurist colors in this custom collection and what was the inspiration or the feeling behind that you are trying to evoke with this specific piece?
“These five colors are my favorite palette to use when painting - they are inspired by the vivid hues and ever-changing patterns within nature.”

If you had to pick one, what is your favorite Manucurist Color?
“Sunset (but it changes daily!)”

How did you first hear about Manucurist and what made you want to collaborate with us?
“Through Instagram! I love that your polishes are green, and you have all of my favorite colors!”

What is one of the things you have discovered while exploring the nuances of womanhood?
“That emotions are valid, even when society may say otherwise.”

Do you have a favorite piece that you have created?
“My most recent piece is usually my favorite, given it is the closest to who I currently am.”

Do you plan to explore other modes of artistic design in the future?
“I hope so, but I don't like to pressure myself, haha”

Who are some of your favorite artists / works?
“I love the works of Sara Baumann, Brittany Pierre, and Elise Swopes!”
