French Octobre Rose
According to the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), 1 in 8 women in France will be affected by breast cancer during their lifetime. It remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women, with more than 61,000 new cases and over 12,000 lives lost every year.
Today, thanks to medical advances, early detection means that 88% of women diagnosed are still alive 5 years later. In general, the earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chances of recovery. Early-stage cancers also tend to require less intensive and invasive treatments, often resulting in fewer long-term effects.
And yet, less than half of women undergo screening (just 46.3% in 2023–2024). That’s why it's so important to keep spreading the word—especially for those aged 50 and over, who represent 80% of breast cancer cases. The recommended screening includes a mammogram and a clinical exam every two years, fully covered by French national health insurance.
For the second year running, Manucurist is proud to support Les PrinSEINSes, a vital organization in the fight against breast cancer in France. Founded in 2020 by Isabelle Deschamps, a former patient herself, the association is committed to raising awareness about prevention and research while providing real support to those living with cancer—from help with job hunting and parenting to sport and well-being initiatives.
Pink October in the USA
In the United States, October is also dedicated to raising awareness around breast cancer prevention. While the number of cases has been falling steadily since the 2000s, breast cancer is still the second most common cancer among American women, just behind skin cancer. Even more concerning, 47% of American women delay or avoid screening due to the cost.
That’s why we’re proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the second year, alongside the National Breast Cancer Foundation INC. Founded over 30 years ago, this organization is one of the most influential advocates for early detection and support in the US. It promotes timely screening and offers essential guidance and care to women undergoing treatment.
