FAQ

Our Frequently Asked Questions from our customers and community!

What is the best way to use a cuticle remover?

To use a cuticle remover effectively, apply it to clean, dry nails. Allow it to sit for a few seconds, as directed by the product instructions. After the remover has softened the cuticles, gently push them back with a cuticle pusher. This ensures you remove the excess skin without causing damage to your nails.

Can cuticle removers be used on sensitive skin?

Yes, many cuticle removers are formulated to be safe for sensitive skin. However, it’s important to check the ingredients list for any potential allergens. If you have particularly sensitive skin, perform a patch test before using the product on your nails.

How long should I leave cuticle remover on my nails?

The typical cuticle remover should be left on for about 1 to 2 minutes. This allows the product to soften the cuticles for easy removal. Follow the specific product's instructions, as some may require a longer or shorter application time depending on the formula.

Is it necessary to push back cuticles after using a remover?

Yes, after using a cuticle remover, it’s essential to gently push back the cuticles. This helps create a clean, neat nail bed and prevents the skin from regrowing onto the nail surface. Be sure to use a soft, non-abrasive tool to avoid damaging the nail.

What is the difference between a cuticle softener and a cuticle remover?

A cuticle softener hydrates and softens the cuticles, making them easier to push back without cutting. In contrast, a cuticle remover works by softening and loosening excess cuticle and dead skin so it can be gently pushed back and removed. While both products help maintain healthy nails, the remover is designed to lift stubborn cuticles for a cleaner, more precise nail prep.

Can I use a treatment base coat as a base coat for my Green™ or Green Flash™ polish?

Treatment base coats can be used as a base coat as part of your Green manicure.

However, they cannot be used instead of a Green Flash™ base coat, which needs to dry under the lamp.

How many coats of treatment base coat do I need to apply?

A single coat is enough.

Can I use a treatment base coat under Green Flash™?

For maximum staying power, we recommend that you only use Green Flash™ Base Coat.

Can treatment base coats be removed with Green Flash™ Nail Polish Remover?

All our treatment base coats can be removed like our polish - with our Nail Polish Remover or Green Flash™ Nail Polish Remover.

If I want to apply more treatment base coat, should I remove the old coat first?

When using a treatment base coat, there's no need to remove the previous coat.

Can pregnant and/or breastfeeding women use your nail care range?

Our nail care formulas are green and clean: they are up to 99% plant-based, i.e. made from biomass ingredients like aloe vera, lemon, ginseng, pomegranate and grape. However, women should avoid all types of nail polish when they are pregnant or breastfeeding. We recommend you speak to a healthcare professional if you are unsure.

Can using your nail care products cause allergies?

Our nail care formulas meet European standards and do not contain any sensitising substances. They are also certified gluten-free and safe for people with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, as are our Green Flash™, Green™ and Active™ ranges. Most customers who are allergic to regular nail care products are not allergic to the Manucurist nail care range. However, as allergic reactions are not specifically linked to chemical ingredients, they can sometimes occur with plant-based ingredients. We recommend you speak to a healthcare professional if you are unsure.
